I'm hoping someone can correct me or verify my thoughts below.AC3Filter is an open source AC3 decoding filter that allows you to watch videos with AC3-encoded surround audio. After you install the filter, all video players, including Microsoft's Windows Media Player, that use DirectShow, should be able to play AC3 audio correctly. Filter also supports ProLogicII audio as well.- Normalize Matrix = lowers the level of the entire audio stream across all channels to make sure no levels go above 1.00. Thus the distance between the lowest level and the highest level would be preserved.

I have yet to run the Windows Repair All-in-One program, but am thinking of trying it soon. There is one other thing on my mind though, concerning Windows 7 no longer being supported by Microsoft. Everything else seems fine. I was beset by family problems over the Christmas period and life has continued in pretty much the same vein ever since.I still get messages about the Windows Update, although I do not notice them very much. Sorry, it has been a very long time since my last message. That said, if my explanation of Clipping Protection is correct, would this volume difference actually be noticeable? I mostly watch at my desktop using high-end headphones connected to a fairly powerful AMP, so it's less important to me if the overall volume is lowered slightly.

My old one stopped working a little while ago. Please can you help?I might look up messages on here from back in 2014 - if I can find them - and see if it gives any details of what I learned back then.I forgot to mention that I currently have no cd/dvd device on here. Sorry, I do not remember all the details now, but it put me off the idea of Windows 10 at the time as listening to music on here is very important for me.Anyway, now I find myself once again in the position of running a defunct OS - and once again wondering whether this computer would take Windows 10!I have looked up the requirements and know that the following are all fine: -I am not sure how to find out about the graphics card etc or how to find out if the audio will cause a problem, as I believed it would back in 2014. I remember though back around 2014 running some kind of update assistant to find out if Windows 10 could be run on here and the results caused me to be a bit concerned because (from memory) it said I could do it, but mentioned something about the audio possibly being a problem.

You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
